Hello Confident Ladies! This week we are talking Mindset and “Handling Disappointment". Here are a few questions to ask yourself:
// Do I handle disappointment well?
// Can I see the bigger picture?
// Am I still hopeful when things don’t go my way?
// Can I actually get in the mindset of peace + abundance when things don’t go as intended because deep down I know that means something better is on the horizon?
Now these q's lead into a few of my top tips:
1. Keep your Eye on the Prize: What is it that you ultimately want in your business? Don’t let this one “disappointment” throw you off course. How do you know this isn’t a “redirection” from God or your higher power? Today let’s start replacing the word “disappointment” with “redirection”.
2. Keep the FAITH: What does faith mean to you? Do you believe in someone or something higher than yourself? My faith is in God and he’s always got my back. When I can’t see one step in front of me he is holding my hand and guiding my path. He knows the innermost desires of my heart that I can’t even see just yet.
3. Have Support: Do you have friends, family, colleagues, or a coach who you can process redirections with? Make sure this person can fully understand the business and what it’s like to be an entrepreneur. Your coach would be the best person to process it with, because they will give you an unbiased opinion.
Lastly, +++++ Replace DISAPPOINTMENT with REDIRECTION++++
I am SO passionate about this reframe. People always ask how I take “disappointments” so well. Minds are boggled at times when I can stand back up and keep on walking. This little verse always comes to mind…..”For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11
So what do I tell them? God knows the innermost desires of my heart, what it is that I NEED and not just WANT. As humans, we want SO many things, but are they really necessary? Probably not. If I had been given what I asked for my first month of launching my business, I wouldn’t have been ready. “I” thought I could handle a FULL psychotherapy practice PLUS a FULL coaching practice, but God KNEW it would burn me out so he waited a little time to fill my coaching practice as I strategically scaled back my therapy practice.
Now I'd like to invite you to take some time and think back on past situations where you felt in despair from disappointment and how it actually turned into a good situation for you. WRITE THIS DOWN. When times get hard again, stories like these will help you keep on going!
