Happy Tuesday Confident Lady,
This week we had an awesome guest on the podcast, Natalia Crawford who spoke about overcoming the fear of "building a business around myself". Today I want to briefly dive into this lie with you, as I know so many of us have felt this way at one point or another.
Here is my word of wisdom for you ---> Sales are not about the product, but the emotional experience.
Ever shop at a store that cost maybe a little too much, but you love the way that the owner personally greets you as you walk in and knows your family by name? A successful business runs on trust. In this day and age information is at our fingertips, thus people want to know a little more than maybe some of us are used to.
Personally, I buy from providers and brands who connect me with their personal values and beliefs. When I was in the market to hire a new business coach I didn't gravitate to the pretty stock photos or perfect branding, I was attracted to the coach who I felt an emotional connection to. I had heard her speak, I saw pictures of her behind the scenes, she was open about her struggles, etc. I felt we had many things in common so she would understand me better.
Your future customers are the same--they want YOU infused into your brand. They don't want to see perfect stock photos--they feel more connected seeing your IG Story of that big pile of laundry waiting to be folded on your couch. I bet you know what's on my to-do list today!? You get the picture. YOU are your brand and without YOU, there is no brand and without a brand there is no business coming in.
It is not self serving to be the face of your business. I want to challenge you today if you're struggling with feeling this way to do some research on big brands and speakers you follow and have been influenced by. About two years ago I gave a client this exercise for her homework and she was blown away by all of the humble people she followed who were the faces of their brands. Even Christian and spiritual speakers were the face of their own brand.
Are you hiding today?
What are you hiding from?
What are you afraid people will say?
Would you have been impacted by those public figures/thought leaders if they had hid their face in their business? Quit hiding. Drop the fear and quit worrying what others will think of you. This behavior is NOT serving anyone. Think about the people out there waiting to receive what it is you have to offer.
